As the day of over-eating approaches, we want to send good wishes to everyone to enjoy the holiday to the fullest.  Although eating more than our normal allowance is not something we typically recommend here at OL, due to our heavy focus on fitness, on this special day, we realize that it very often happens. As you sit down to the table on Thanksgiving, here are a few helpful tips to make the day go smoother in the health arena:

  • When we crave sweets, we often are not getting enough protein.  This means stock up on that turkey, or have a protein shake in the morning, and you may not then want that extra piece of pumpkin pie.

  • Drink lots of water.  With festive food often comes alchohol, so be sure to drink 8 oz. of water for every alcoholic beverage you take in, in addition to the 64 oz. we still need to drink each day

  • A taste goes a long way! Often a few bites of a desert or a nibble on a cookie is all we need to satisfy our sweet tooth.  Don't be shy about sharing and feel free to take a smaller portion if possible! Eat enough protein throughout the day!
